Guidance to Building control regulations

The Building regulations are developed by the UK government and approved by Parliament. They are minimum standards for design, construction, and alterations applied to every building.

Building Regulations Approved documents in the UK

The Building Act allows the government to publish approved documents. The Approved Documents have been compiled by Government to provide guidance for how each ‘Part’ of the Building Regulations can be complied with when undertaking building work (including plumbing, electrics, extensions, etc.).

The independent review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety was led by Dame Judith Hackitt. Its purpose was to make recommendations that will enhance the safety of buildings to publish a fully searchable PDF of all Approved Documents. Designed to be clear and useful for a range of audiences, this new edition of the manual has been divided into two volumes: an accessible overview and a more detailed set of guidelines.

The following links are all about what you need to know if you’re doing or having construction and building work carried out.
